Walnut's Splash Pad Is A Blast!!!

The Walnut Splash Pad Committee and the City of Walnut are proud to announce that its splash pad was dedicated on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 5:00 p.m.  A free-will donation barbecue of hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, cake, and drinks was served to well over 200 people.  Tony Zimmerman, representing the Walnut City Council, provided the crowd with a history of the project as well as a listing of people and organizations that had made large donations and grants on behalf of the project.  Sharing in the ribbon cutting duties included Briar Brockmann, Sierra Heiny, George Lyon and Georgia Sievers, both of the Iowa West Foundation, and Tony Zimmerman.  Shannon Wood, Robin Tooley, Carol Rosenbaum, and Mike Gettler, all members of the Splash Pad Committee, also participated in the ribbon cutting.

The Splash Pad is located in the southwest corner of Fireman's Park on North Street.  Two benches have recently been installed so that you can keep a close eye on your young ones. There are dump buckets, water cannons, and water arches with plenty of fun for all ages!!  Take a look for yourself!
