Walnut is very proud to announce that construction of the Walk of Honor, Eagles of Honor project, which is a memorial to honor our veterans of the armed forces of the United States of America, is almost complete!!
The statue was created by Neola artist, Russell Christensen. It was designed to pay homage to the valor and bravery of those veterans who have served in the past, present and will in the future and their families.
The Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors begin the project with $25,000. We are fortunate, as a community, to have caring citizens who have provided funds as the down payment for the commission of this beautiful sculpture. The sculpted eagle is 42" tall and made of bronze.
We feel very strong that Now is the Time for the community to build a monument to our Veterans.
We wish to remind all of our citizens to honor and respect our Veterans who have sacrificed so much to preserve our nation's freedom.
We are still taking Memorial Brick Applications. Click for more information.
Construction on Walnut's Project Began on September 2, 2010, when the first dirt was moved.
