Veterans' Memorial Park houses the community's three ball fields. One field is dedicated to baseball and the other field to softball. Our newest ball field, Logan's Little Field, is used for the younger ball teams for practice and for games.

Logan's Little Field
The City of Walnut received a grant totaling $8,844.00 from the Iowa West Foundation for the development of a third ball field at Veterans' Memorial Park. The idea for the project was forged by the Rick Blum family. It was the intent of the family members to memorialize their son and brother, Logan, in an effort to give back to the community. Plans were made and revised, all in an effort to install the ball field directly adjacent to the two existing ball fields. Logan's Little Field was completed in the spring of 2010 and dedicated on June 22, 2010. The ball field will be used for practice and for games for the younger ball teams.
Local funds for the project were raised as a result of a slow-pitch softball tournament that raised $7,500.00 for the field. In basically eight weeks in the spring of 2010, an army of 50 or so people came together to complete the project.
